A cottage in the nordic woods
Tucked away in one of the Nordic's sprawling forests - you know, the ones packed with gossip about witches, robbers and some very old castles - that's where our lively bunch calls home. It's a forest ranger's old digs, now claimed by our troop, where the doors don't just creak, they perform full symphonies, and baby pines have decided the thatched roof is the new 'it' place to grow.
The wall features a random crown with mysterious dates. No one quite remembers what it all means, but it sure adds a nice 'ye olde' touch to dinner parties. And speaking of dinner, just a stone's throw away at the local inns, Freya's cooking up a storm. Even the Queen and some dusty old kings have popped in for a nibble!
As for the garden, it's a delightful tangle of everything nature can throw at you, from hazel and trollwood, to birch forests. High in the trees, pheasants are belting out their morning tunes, squirrels are hatching grand acorn heists, and badgers wander the path Freya cycles on, usually around sunrise. The regal deer? They're off lounging in the long grass, too royal for the early bird routine.
Our surroundings are a salad bowl of nature's best: apples, elder trees, strawberries, a forest floor carpeted with mushrooms (including the super-popular Karl Johan), along with flowers and trees bursting into bloom. For those scorching summer days, there are lakes begging for a splash. And when you've had your fill of forest frolics, you can always escape to the long sandy beaches, or go explore the heather-dressed hills. Welcome to our wild, slightly mad, never dull, always loved - home sweet home.
Scandinavian living
Nestled deep in the forest, our cottage is a forest ranger's delight with its cellar, attic, and intriguing little doors that lead to mysterious nooks under the thatched roof. Upstairs, the white fluttering curtains play hide and seek with the sunlight. White lime-washed walls echo back the laughter and chatter from within.
Ronia's room is nothing short of a princess's boudoir where she creates miniature huts out of scraps at her desk - a little architect in the making! Bear's got a roomy chamber of chaos, a veritable armory with Nerf guns and swords hanging wall to wall - watch out, intruders!
The adult quarters, you ask? Ah, that's where the magic happens. An imposing sideboard whispers of adult secrets. And yes, it's adults only.
Downstairs, we have our haven - the living room. A hearty wood-burning stove for those chilly nights, chunky wooden tables, and plush, comfy sofas draped in blankets - it's cuddle central. A table to build Lego masterpieces, where epic battles and dream cities come to life.
The kitchen is a cozy wonderland with display cabinets, chandeliers sparkling with glass stones, and a fridge teeming with elderflower juice. Oh, and you may have to navigate through a minefield of the kids' clothes strewn all over the corridor. And there's Halfdan, king of relaxation, usually found lounging in the clawfoot bathtub. Welcome to our slightly chaotic, often noisy, but always full-of-love, home!
